Curtains for a closet.

Make curtains or drapes for a closet to add a soft look to a room. An alternative to heavy wood or mirrored doors is to hang draperies over a closet.

Use sheets for an inexpensive alternative to buying a large amount of fabric.

Instructions

    • 1
Drapery rod ready for curtains or drapes.

Measure the closet door that needs drapes or curtains. Be sure to measure both the width and the height. Hang the curtain rod or drapery rod to know how long and wide the fabric needs to be.

Cut the fabric or use flat sheets. For a closet with one door, use one king, queen, or full size flat sheet. For a closet with double doors, use at least two king, queen, or full size flat sheets.

    • 3
      Sew two sheets together.

Decide what design you want for the closet drapes. Use matching sheets or use one patterned sheet and one solid colored sheet. If using two different designed sheets, cut each flat sheet down the middle. Sew one side of each to the other sheet so the two drapery panels match.

      Insert rings.

Hem the top to create a runner for the drapery rod to slip through. Another option is to add metal rings that open so the rings slide on the drapery rod easily. Cut small slits in the fabric and thread the metal ring through the holes. Close the rings.

      Drapes for a closet door.

Hang the drapery panels on the drapery rod. Adjust the fullness by adjusting the drapes on the rod.

Add hardware on the wall on either side of the closet to hold the curtains back as needed to get into the closet and look for clothes and shoes.
