Many people groan when they are summoned for jury duty. While jury duty may not be your idea of fun, it does have its benefits. The government reimburses those who are called to jury duty through jury duty pay. Here is a guide to help you calculate what you can expect to receive in jury duty pay.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Standard jury duty pay rates are $40 per day. If the trial lasts more than 30 days, jurors can expect an additional $10 per day.

  2. Step 2

Add the cost of transportation and parking during your summons. These expenses will be reimbursed in your pay.

  3. Step 3

If you are required to stay overnight, keep up with lodging and food expenses. The government will also cover the costs for childcare if you have children while serving on jury duty. Add these amounts to your estimated pay.

  4. Step 4

Add your wages from your job to the jury duty pay. If you have a full time job, your employer may pay you your regular full time earnings for the first 5 days of jury duty. However, if you are only a part time or temporary employee you may not be reimbursed.
