Step 1
Start off by using a heat-protectant spray on towel-dried hair. Excessive heat from blow drying and flat ironing can cause hair breakage and hair loss, so always use a heat protectant spray, gel or cream on hair before coming into contact with heat. Try Redken Fabricate Heat Active Texturizer $13

Step 2
Begin by blow drying the bottom portion of your hair first. Use hair clips and pens to section off areas of your hair that you are not currently blow drying.
-
Step 3
Use a medium size round brush to grab hair at the roots and run the brush and the hair dryer in a downwards motion until each section of hair is completely dry and smooth.
-
Step 4
When your hair is completely dry, use a moisturizing spritz- like Nexus Heat Protectant to protect your hair from additional heat styling. Pay special attention to the ends of your hair as the ends are the most delicate.
-
Step 5
Glide a flatiron over your locks to smooth out the sections of your hair that did not get straight by a blow dryer alone.
-
Step 6
Once you are done flat ironing your hair, use a shine serum to add gloss and luster to your hair. The finished result will be beautiful, straight celebrity approved locks.

on 11/5/2009 Good tips. I recently started using clips to section off hair. It really helps.
