How to Clean and Disinfect a Wood Cutting Board

Wood cutting boards can be like a five star resort for bacteria. You are always using it to cut raw chicken and beef which can leave behind numerous type of bacterium. It is unsafe to leave the cutting board unclean and unsanitary. You and your family could be at risk. In this article you will a simple and quick way to disinfect and clean your wood cutting board.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wood Cutting Board
  • Vinegar
  • Paper Towel or Sponge
  • Baking Soda
  1. Step 1

    After using the cutting board rinse it off with warm water. Take some vinegar and pour it directly onto the cutting board. Use a clean paper towel or sponge to wipe down the entire surface. This will kill any left over bacteria from the raw meat.

  2. Step 2

    Rinse the cutting board again to remove the excess vinegar. Grab the baking soda and sprinkle a decent amount onto the cutting board. Take a damp paper towel or sponge and wipe it around, scrub the cutting board. This will eliminate any left over odors from the raw meet or even vegetables like onions or garlic.

  3. Step 3

    Rinse one more time to wash away the left over baking soda and dry.

Tips & Warnings
  • The baking soda works great to eliminate odors from the cutting board and it is food safe so you don't have to worry if some sticks on.
