Step 1
If you have a screw eye laying around in your junk drawer or garage, you can use this in conjunction with a wooden spoon or screw driver as a make shift corkscrew. Just screw in the eye screw until completely in the cork, then use the handle of the wooden spoon or screw driver for twisting leverage by putting it threw the hole of the eye screw.
-
Step 2
You can also use a plain wood or deck screw to pop a cork of your favorite wine as well, although a little more difficult that the first step, you can use a pair of pliers to grip on the screw and pull the cork out.
-
Step 3
If you have a stubborn cork that will not budge, try loosening it by taking a wash cloth and soaking it in hot water. Take the hot wash cloth and wrap it around the stem of the wine bottle. After a couple of minutes, the hot wash cloth should have expanded the glass on the wine bottle sufficiently enough to remove the cork more easily.

on 11/16/2009 Do you want to know how many crazy things I've done trying to open a wine bottle when I couldn't find a corkscrew? I have even walked down the street to the neighbor's house and offered him a glass of wine if he could get the cork out! Great article!

on 10/18/2009 I'm not whining. I've got your back! This is a common sense, easy to read and understand article and later on I'm going to find a bottle of wine and say, "Screw it!" - Thanks for the tip. 5 turns of the screw to you.
