How to Remove a Urine Smell From Microfiber
Pet urine stains shouldn't be the reason you buy a new microfiber couch or living room chair. It's easy enough to eliminate the odor, while keeping your house from smelling like a litter box. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 5 or 6 clean towels (or a roll of paper towels)
- 1 bucket/dish/large glass of clean, room-temperature water
- 1 bottle of club soda
- 1 box of baking soda
- 1 vacuum
- 1 wet/dry vacuum (optional)
- 1 soft furniture brush

Removing the Urine Smell

If the stain is still wet, blot up urine with paper towels or a clean rag. If the urine has dried, pour some of the water on the stain and blot. Repeat as necessary.

Pour club soda over the stain liberally and allow it to bubble for a few moments. Blot up club soda with a clean towel.

Allow club soda to dry (might take up to six hours), or remove remaining club soda with a wet dry vacuum.

Sprinkle baking soda on stain and then vacuum it up. Repeat as necessary.

Using the soft furniture brush, gently sweep the previously soiled area in order to restore the nap in your microfiber.

Tips & Warnings
Be careful not to rub towel into the microfiber, as that can cause damage. Paw-rescue.org suggests blotting or dabbing the towel into the urine stain instead.
Some newer microfiber couches and chairs might have material that is not colorfast or could possibly shrink. Test any liquid or solution on an inconspicuous area before moving to the stained area.
