How to Download Music Onto CDs
Downloading music from the Internet has become very popular. When someone pays for a download from an Internet site, they sometimes like to create a CD of that music to take with them. In order to burn music to a CD on a computer you could invest money in expensive software and high-end equipment. The reality is that you can easily burn your MP3 files to a CD you can play in almost any CD player with some very basic equipment that you may already have on your computer.
Things You'll Need
- Windows-based computer with a CD-RW drive
- Most recent version of Windows Media Player
- Blank CD-R disc

Create a folder on your hard drive dedicated solely to organizing your MP3 collection. It will be easier to pull music from your computer when it is organized into one folder.

Open Windows Media Player and click on the "Media Library" option.

Click on "Add," choose "Add Files or Playlists" and then locate the folder you created with your MP3 files in it. Once you have located the files, begin clicking on them to add them to your selection screen.

Click on "Playlists" in the upper right hand corner of your screen. Select "New Playlist." A box with two windows should appear. On the left will be the music you just selected, and on the right is the playlist you will be creating. Type a name for your playlist in the box above it, and then begin to click on the music to the left to get it into your playlist on the right.

Click "Copy to CD or Device." Click on the "Items to Copy" option and a pull-down menu will appear with your new playlist in it. Simply click on your playlist and then click the red button in the upper right corner that says "Copy." The computer will prompt you to insert a blank CD-R into your drive. Just follow the computer's instructions and it will burn your CD for you.

Tips & Warnings
A CD can hold about 74 minutes of music. When you create your playlist it will show you at the bottom how many minutes your music adds up to. If it is greater than 74 minutes then you will need to remove some songs to allow the CD to burn.
Use only CD-R blank discs. Music cannot be played back in a standard CD player if it is burned on CD-RW discs.
