1
Drape white satin or taffeta over a round or square table, not rectangle or oblong. This will form the base of your cake. Pull it taut and fasten it to the floor with duct tape on the underside of the table. If it is a carpeted room, use dress pins. You want to create a smooth, fondant look to the base of your "cake."

2
Take ruffled, satin elastic to create the perfect trim around your cake. Use short pins with clear or white heads to attach it to the tablecloth. Next, attach lace flowers or silk roses, 6 inches apart, around the entire ruffle. Continue the look of frosted roses by applying them sparingly to the base of the cake along the satin or taffeta.

Create a second tier by wrapping several round hat boxes in the same material you used on the base of your cake. Hot-glue the fabric tightly to the bottom of the boxes. Repeat the same pattern with the ruffled elastic and silk flowers you used on the table. Place the boxes about 9 inches from the edge of the table to make a circle. Use plain white linen-wrapped boxes to place in the center of this second tier. These center boxes will provide a sturdy base for your third tier you will create by simply repeating the process.

Use a a single round box fashioned in the same manner as the rest of the boxes and table to form the third and final tier. However, this box should also be larger than the other boxes so that it takes up the entire space in the middle of the second tier.
The next step is to wrap it with wide ribbon vertically on four sides. Rather than placing a bow on top, place fresh flowers that can stick out over the edges as the cake topper. It is a perfect touch to use the same flowers as the bride's bouquet.

5
Use tulle around the second tier of the wedding cake. Pin tulle around the base of the second tier to create a unique frosting effect. Pin it every 9 inches to give it a draping effect. In the middle of each pin, place another silk flower or rose.
