How to Make a Schoolhouse Out of Popsicle Sticks
Popsicle sticks are great for constructing all sorts of crafts, from bridges and houses to signs and boxes. Making a model schoolhouse out of popsicle sticks is fairly easy; it varies in complexity based on how detailed you want the schoolhouse to be. However, for a simple, one-room schoolhouse, only a few supplies are needed. Once you finish the structure for the schoolhouse, you can get creative by adding assorted decorations and other materials.

1
Design the schoolhouse. You must first decide what type of schoolhouse you want to build. A several room, several story schoolhouse will take advanced planning and serious design capabilities. For a simple one-room schoolhouse, a normal square structure will serve well. Also, if you want to play with the schoolhouse after finishing it, consider leaving the roof open.

Form the structure. Lay out six popsicle sticks side by side, so that they form a square; the width of the popsicle sticks should equal or slightly exceed the length of one popsicle stick. Cover one side of one popsicle stick with glue, and place it across the width of the square so that it attaches to all six sticks. Place this at the top of the square, and repeat the same for the bottom of the square. This will serve as a wall to the schoolhouse. Repeat this same process four times for all four walls. If you want to make a door for the schoolhouse, lay one of the walls down and cut out a small rectangle from the bottom (See Reference 1).

Attach the walls. Stand one popsicle stick wall up, and attach it at a 90º angle to the corner of another wall. Brace these walls, and place a line of glue at the corner of the wall. Allow it to dry completely. Repeat with the other two walls, and connect the walls together to form a square structure. Brace the structure, and glue the walls into place.

Design the roof. For the roof, try making a simple triangle design. At the top of each corner of one wall, stand a popsicle stick straight up. Then, lean the two popsicle sticks in until they form a triangle with the top of the wall. Glue them to each other and to the wall. Repeat this for all four walls (See Reference 1). For a more interesting roof, attach colored computer paper to the backside of the triangle roof, in the shape of a triangle (See Reference 2).

Add finishing touches. Paint the outside of the schoolhouse whatever color you would like, and write the name of the school on the outside. On the inside, glue colored paper to the walls to give it a classroom effect; insert small models of a chalkboard, desks or chairs for more detail.
