How to Start a Jungle-Themed Restaurant
Starting a restaurant takes a lot of work, but it is well worth it if you have a passion for owning your own business and a desire to build something from nothing. Choosing a theme for your restaurant and implementing it requires much planning. However, with an idea such as a jungle theme, you can make your restaurant stand out above the rest and, if done correctly, you can create a world of your own that will keep people coming back for more.

How to Start a Jungle-Themed Restaurant
-
1
Choose a name. This may very well be one of the most important things you do. Remember, you are branding your business as a jungle-themed restaurant. The name must reflect the theme, be memorable and project the desired image.
-
2
Write a business plan. This plan should incorporate the operational and financial objectives of your restaurant. A business plan must contain an executive summary, summarizing the detail of your jungle-themed restaurant business proposal; a written overview of the business's mission and its products and services; management team goals; and financial forecasts.

3
Find a location. Your jungle-themed restaurant will most likely need a space with high ceilings--to accommodate your trees and other foliage--plus, good acoustics as elephant and monkey sounds shouldn't echo throughout the building, and a patio area to expand your jungle out of doors when the weather cooperates.
-
4
Obtain the state, local and federal licenses and permits. Get your federal tax ID number, and find out what your state tax department requires.
-
5
Choose your layout and decorations. Visiting other jungle-themed restaurants will be helpful, but you must have your own vision. To draw people in and keep them coming back, you must have your own unique features that differentiate you from the competition. Remember that furniture can be part of the décor. Think outside of the box--monkey-shaped tables with banana booth seats, giraffe booths with bills that swing to your tables on vines when dinner is over--would be great places to start.
-
6
Contact a decorator who is familiar with restaurant design and themes. You need optimum creativity, but you want to have your own ideas as well. Plan it out yourself and then talk to a decorator.
-
7
Design your kitchen and purchase your equipment.
-
8
Hire a manager with experience in themed restaurants, and hire a chef who is familiar with jungle cuisine.
-
9
Build your jungle menu. Decide on the types of food and drinks you will serve, and give them catchy names to reflect your theme.
-
10
Send your menus to print.
-
11
Hire a payroll firm or get familiar with payroll accounting. You will also need an accountant who specializes in restaurants--you don't want to make a wrong tax move.
