Uncommon skin disorders can be difficult to diagnose because their symptoms can closely resemble more common skin conditions. Discovering what the underlying skin problem might be is necessary in order to receive the right treatment.

  1. Step 1

    Identify Sweets syndrome. Sweets syndrome, otherwise known as neutrophilic dermatosis, is an allergic condition that produces oily, red scales all over the body.

  2. Step 2

    Identify Goltz syndrome. Goltz syndrome, also called focal dermal hypoplasia, produces inflamed and raised bumps on the skin that are filled with fat.

  3. Step 3

    Identify Harlequin Ichthyosis. Harlequin Ichthyosis causes the skin to shed excessively, and to develop prolific scaly patches that resemble fish scales.

  4. Step 4

    Identify Morgellon’s Disease. Morgellon’s Disease causes the skin to become extremely itchy and flaky, and is accompanied by memory loss and fatigue.

  5. Step 5

    Identify Scleroderma . Scleroderma makes the skin harden and tighten. Redness and pain is seen in some sufferers. Seek medical attention right away if you think you may have Scleroderma.
