How to Make Cream of Mushroom Soup from Scratch
Cream of Mushroom Soup doesn't have to come from a can. Making it from scratch is simpler than you might think. Not only can you eat the soup as a meal in itself, but you can also add it to other dishes, like pot roasts. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 1 lb. fresh mushrooms
- 2 small onions diced
- 1/4 cup of butter
- 2 tbsp. of flour
- 2 cups of evaporated milk
- 2 cups of water
- Salt and pepper to taste

Wash and slice the mushrooms.

Melt the butter in a saucepan, and cook the mushrooms and onions on low heat for 10 minutes.

Add the flour and mix well.

Mix the evaporated milk and water together.

Add the milk mixture to the mushroom mixture. Heat and stir constantly until the soup thickens.

Bring to a boil and cook for two minutes.

Add salt and pepper to taste.

Serve warm or use in your favorite recipes.
