Ewww another yeast infection. I don't know anyone who likes yeast infections and yet almost every woman will get at least one sometime in their life. I have had several of the itchy, burning infections. Antibiotics, pregnancy and menstruation are just a few reasons why a woman's body can get out of whack and experience excess Candida, another word for yeast.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Vinegar
  • plain yogurt
  • douche bottle
  1. Step 1

First of all, if this is your first yeast infection, go to the doctor and get a clear diagnosis. There are several more serious conditions that can appear to be a yeast infection and in fact be something worse. Please see the warning at the bottom of this article for some further guidelines.

  2. Step 2

Vinegar and Water Douche. Once the yeast infection has started there are several options you have to get rid of it. You can use a vinegar and water douche that you either have made yourself by using 2 tablespoons of white vinegar to one quart of warm water, or that you have purchased from your drug store or grocery store.

  3. Step 3

Yogurt Douche. You can also use a yogurt douche to get rid of the yeast infection by taking plain yogurt and diluting it with warm water.

  4. Step 4

Medication. You can find medication over the counter at your drug store or grocery store. I have had very little success with the one dose variety and my doctor does not recommend the one dose yeast infection cures. The three day or 7 day dose cures that are found over the counter are usually sufficient to rid yourself of the candida. But, if after two weeks you still have the burning and itching, contact your doctor.

  5. Step 5

Avoid a recurring yeast infection! I love this one because I hate getting yeast infections so much. My doctor recommended that I douche with vinegar and water after every period to put my acid PH level back in check after menstruation. The other time I use a vinegar and water douche is when I am taking an antibiotic. I haven't had a yeast infection since I started following this advice. YAY!!!

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't douche too much. It can cause more harm than good if it is over used. I only douche the last day of my period and if I am taking an antibiotic.
  • See a doctor if you have a thin, foamy, discolored discharge, have been exposed to a sexually transmitted disease, have abdominal pain or if home treatment doesn't work within two weeks.
