Hair restoration can be kick-started with a few steps.

It can be alarming to shampoo your hair and find your hand filled with fallen hair. Though it is natural to have some hair fall, if it seems that it is significantly more than usual or that you are noticing thinning hair, you may be in a hair loss cycle. Hair loss can be caused by genetics, stress, illness, drugs, and diet. It is important to recognize the likely cause of your hair loss and to start the process of hair restoration.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Determine what is causing your hair loss. The first step to hair restoration is to determine what is actually causing your hair to fall or be less healthy. If it is a medication, ask your doctor if an alternative is available. Eliminate or reduce stress at work and at home. Ask your relatives if and when they experienced any hair loss at your age.

  2. Step 2

Pamper your scalp. Despite genetics, you will be able start hair restoration on your own if you begin to care for your scalp. Hair tends to go through three phases: a growing phase, a transition phase, and a resting phase. The phase to encourage for hair restoration is this growing phase. Primarily, this means stimulating the scalp and making sure it has proper blood flow and unclogged glands. One of the best ways to do this is by massaging the scalp with a few drops of tea tree or mint oil once a week. Gently brush your hair in the evening. And get or give yourself a scalp massage daily.

  3. Step 3

Use over the counter topical treatments like Rogaine or its generic equivalent. These topical treatments have been shown to work on many and it could help to stop hair loss and promote hair restoration.

  4. Step 4

Take care of the inside. Saw palmetto has been shown to have an effect on reducing hair loss and even begin hair restoration in men. Horsetail and silica have been shown to promote hair restoration in both men and women. Drink adequate amounts of water and electrolytes throughout the day to remain hydrated and maintain the best circulation.

  5. Step 5

Add exercise to your hair restoration routine. It is important to have excellent circulation in order to insure that the scalp has great blood flow and healthy follicles. Incorporate daily exercise and it can help your goal of hair restoration as well as your overall health.

  6. Step 6

If you are still noticing hair loss after two months, see your doctor for any medical alternatives such as surgical hair restoration or hair restoration medications.
