How to Make a Bratwurst Authentic Potato Salad

This is a spin to ordinary potato salad. It's a meal in itself.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1lb. of Bratwurst
  • 1 1/4 cup of water
  • 4 slices of bacon
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 tablespoons of flour
  • 1/4 cup of sugar
  • 1/4 cup of white vinegar
  • 4 to 6 potatoes, boiled and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons of pimentos
  • salt and pepper
  1. Step 1

    Put the bratwurst in a skillet with 1/4 of a cup of water.

  2. Step 2

    Heat over medium heat for 15 minutes in a covered skillet.

  3. Step 3

    Remove the cover, and turn up the heat gradually.

  4. Step 4

    Cook until the water evaporates, and brown each link by occasionally turning.

  5. Step 5

    Remove from heat, cut up or keep whole. Then cover to keep warm. Set aside.

  6. Step 6

    Fry the bacon stripes until crisp. Then remove from pan and break into pieces. Set aside.

  7. Step 7

    Saute the onions in the bacon grease.

  8. Step 8

    Stir the flour, sugar, vinegar and remain water together.

  9. Step 9

    Now stir in salt and pepper.

  10. Step 10

    Blend the mixture into the bacon drippings and onion in the skillet.

  11. Step 11

    While heating, stir constantly to make the mixture smooth.

  12. Step 12

    Add in the potato slices, the bacon pieces, pimentos and bratwurst.

  13. Step 13

    Heat the contents in the skillet until it is heated thoroughly.

  14. Step 14

    Serve the bratwurst authentic potato salad while warm.
