How to Convert Weight From Grams Into Pounds
Grams and pounds are units mass. A gram is a thousandth of a kilogram, which is one of the base units of the metric system. A gram is the mass of a cubic centimeter of fresh water at room temperature. A pound is a much older unit, which European wool merchants devised centuries ago. The units belong to different measurement systems, but they both use a linear scale, so you can easily convert between them.

1
Divide the weight in grams by 1,000, which is the number of grams in a kilogram. For example, if you are converting 3,180 grams, divide 3,180/1,000 = 3.18 kg.
-
2
Multiply you answer in Step 1 by 2.2, which is the number of pounds in a kilogram. In the example, 3.18 --- 2.2 = 6.996 lb.
