Thanksgiving is a time to enjoy family and food, give thanks and decorate. Try these suggestions for creating a spirit of Thanksgiving in your home.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Turkeys come in many forms, not just cooked. Ceramic turkeys are great table centerpieces, while cloth or fabric turkeys sit comfortably on shelves or end tables. You can find turkeys on placemats, decorator plates, and in certain arts and crafts kits.

Don't limit your decorations to turkeys. Find decorations with the words "Give Thanks" or similar expressions. Since Thanksgiving is an autumn holiday, find items with autumn themes and scenes, such as pumpkins and leaves, and such fall colors as orange, burgundy and olive green. There are also figurines of the principal participants of the traditonal story of the origins of Thanksgiving.

  3. Step 3

Thanksgiving and fall scenes can be found on placemats, kitchen towels, decorator plates and table runners. Look in the linen, home or kitchen section of your favorite retail stores.

  4. Step 4
Turn the jack-o-lantern face around and you have a Thanksgiving pumpkin.

Don't put away all the Halloween decorations. Pumpkins can be used both for Halloween and Thanksgiving. Turn your jack-o-laterns around to hid the face if the otherside doesn't have face. (See photo above.)

Tips & Warnings
  • Many retail stores are selling Thanksgiving decorations even before Halloween. Many are found in the home and kitchen sections.
