How to Clean Mildew Off a Vinyl Shower Curtain

Keep your shower curtain free of mildew with a simple washing.

Bathrooms are breeding grounds for mold and mildew. It's rather unpleasant to step into the shower to clean yourself when the black and green buildup is just inches away from you. Getting rid of the growth is as simple as washing your clothes.

Things You'll Need

• Bleach
• Laundry detergent
• Bath towels

Instructions

1. Remove the shower curtain from the rings on the shower rod.

2. Place the shower curtain in the washing machine. Try to spread it out as much as possible so as much surface area is showing. Add a few towels to the wash load. They will help prevent crinkling the curtain and will agitate the curtain as well.

3. Fill the washing machine with warm water and add 1/2 cup of bleach and 1/4 cup of laundry detergent. Run it through a full cycle.

4. Place the curtain and towels in the dryer and run it for 10 minutes on the lowest setting. Remove the curtain and hang it back on the rod to finish air drying.
