We don't all live in crime free safe neighborhoods, the fact of the matter is that no one does. No matter where you live you need to be alert and aware of what is going on around you. Follow these simple steps to keep yourself safe whiling walking in your neighborhood.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Friend
    One of the best ways to keep yourself safe is to walk with a friend or your spouse. There is safety in numbers. Walking with a friend also helps the walking time to fly by.

  2. Step 2

    Walk in a busy location
    If you are walking alone pick a place that is busy with other walkers, golfers, and joggers.

  3. Step 3

    Be aware of your surroundings
    Keep an eye on what is going on around you, be aware of people behind you and pay attention to detail, if something looks out of place or makes you uneasy turn around and go somewhere else. Report sucpisous activity.

  4. Step 4

    Walk with a cell phone
    You should always walk with a cell phone to call for help if you need it.

  5. Step 5

    Daylight Hours
    Try to avoid walking when it is dark out, it is hard for cars to spot you, their are not as many people out and you can't see as well.
