My mother always told me not to use a feather duster in the house. That's true if you're thinking of using it for regular dusting! But used correctly, it can save you a lot of time and effort in your house cleaning business.

Ostrich feather dusters are the premium of dusters. They work because of the tiny barbules on the feathers themselves
that act as fingers to collect the dust. These feather dusters also resist static electricity.

These steps are to maintain a room. Deep cleaning should be performed BEFORE using your ostrich feather duster (but isn't a requirement - you'll just have to shake it outside!).

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Premium Ostrich Feather Duster
  1. Step 1

Use the feather duster along the tops of all walls in a room to take down cobwebs.

  2. Step 2

Dust the ceiling fans - top and underside.

  3. Step 3

Use the feather duster to dust all lamp shades (inside and
    outside) in the room.

  4. Step 4

Raise/open the blinds and dust out the window box.

  5. Step 5

Lower/close the blinds and open them at an angle. Use the feather
duster along the slats of the blinds in the same direction of
the slats. Your objective is to get the ostrich feathers between
the slats to pickup the dust.

  6. Step 6

Dust all the plants in the room to remove dust and cobwebs.

  7. Step 7

Shake out your duster low to the floor to remove any dust
that has accumulated in the feather duster. This should be done
between steps as needed. Don't worry about the dust because you will vacuum/mop it up as the last step in the room.

  8. Step 8

If your feather duster has accumulated a lot of dust, take it outside to shake out.

  9. Step 9

If you have accumulated sticky cobwebs on your feather duster, simply use a damp cloth to wipe them off.

Tips & Warnings
  • Inferior feather dusters will not give the quality results you can get with premium feather dusters.
  • Inferior feather dusters will not last as long as premium dusters
