Stay Warm in the Winter When Walking Outside
Stay Warm in the Winter When Walking Outside

Winter is a time of cocoa and snowball fights, ice skating and great joy. However, winter is not always joyous. It can be unbearable. Getting out of your warm bed to face the cold stale air is almost torture. So how do you stay warm in the winter when you are walking your dog outside or walking to class?

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Thin layers of clothing
  • Hot fluid
  • Boots
  1. Step 1

Put on thin under layers. Baseball or track spandex and long underwear really work miracles if you wear this under your main outfit. Your body heat will get trapped in between the layers keeping you nice and toasty.

  2. Step 2

Make sure you buy a good winter coat. A wool coat will keep you warm even when it is wet. I know of no synthetic material that will do this. A good winter coat is important. Make sure it zips up all the way, comes down to at least your thighs, and the sleeves are long enough to cover your hands.

  3. Step 3

Keep your head warm. The bit your mother tells you about you losing most of the heat through your head is true. Wear a hat.

  4. Step 4

Let's not forget your feet. There is nothing worse than wet feet. Buy a good pair of boots before you go slugging through the snow. Also, buy a scarf to wrap around your neck. If you don't like scarfs invest in a few turtle necks.

  5. Step 5

There is nothing wrong with carrying around a thermos full of a delicious warm beverage like cocoa or coffee. The hot liquid will warm your insides.

Tips & Warnings
  • The key to staying warm in the winter is to cover up as much skin as possible. That means don't forget your mittens.
