After you have gathered your ingredients, start by adding the milk, cream, sugar, and vanilla to the quart bag. Seal and shake to mix.

  2. Step 2

In the gallon bag, pour the ice in and add the salt around it.

  3. Step 3

The quart bag with the liquid it it should be placed inside the gallon bag and inside the ice so that it is surrounded.

  4. Step 4

Seal the gallon bag and start moving! Rock the bag from side to side, shake it up and down - just use caution that you don't break either of the bags. After about 15 minutes, the ice cream should be ready but if not, just keep shaking!

  5. Step 5

Tips & Warnings
  • Use this as part of a science classroom lesson, and you'll be a hit!
  • This will only make enough ice cream to feed about two people. Experiment around and see how you can increase your output in other ways.
