prevent a urinary tract infection

Women, the elderly, diabetics, and children are more prone to urinary tract infection. They are also susceptible to a reoccurrence of a urinary tract infection.

You should follow the steps below to prevent one.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Step one – increase your fluid intake. Water is the best drink. Okay, now how much water? Take your weight in pounds divide that number by two. That is how many ounces of water you should drink a day.

Example – for a 200 pound person. Divide that 200/2 and you get 100. That is how many ounces of water that person should drink.

  2. Step 2

Step two – drink cranberry juice. And not the cranberry juice cocktail. Try to drink the straight juice. If you find it too tangy, mix with other 100% pure juices like grape, apple, or orange.

  3. Step 3

Step three – urinate often. Urine left in the bladder for long periods of time can grow bacteria.

  4. Step 4

Step four – urinate after intimate activities.

  5. Step 5

Step five – wear cotton underwear or other underwear that allows the area to be drier.

  6. Step 6

Step six – wipe the area from front to back after urinating.

  7. Step 7

Step seven – wear looser slacks. Tight slacks encourage the area to stay moist and that encourages bacterial growth.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you are prone to urinary tract infections, you should do everything you can to prevent its re-occurrence. Untreated a urinary tract infection can cause a serious (and even life-threatening) kidney infection.
