Things You'll Need:
- Jersey knit fabric
- Matching thread
- Fabric scissors
- Sewing machine
-
Step 1
Cut out two pieces of fabric that are each wide enough to reach from shoulder to shoulder and long enough to reach from the bottom of your neck to your hips.
-
Step 2
Pin these two fabric pieces together, right sides facing each other. Sew up each long side, leaving 6 inches at the top for the armholes.
-
Step 3
Sew the top of the shirt together, leaving 8 inches open in the middle for the collar. Hem the bottom of the shirt.
-
Step 4
For the sleeves, cut two pieces of fabric that are each 13 inches by 26 inches. Fold each fabric piece in half, bringing the longer sides together (right sides facing each other).
-
Step 5
Sew up the sleeves opposite the fold. Hem one end of the sleeve and attach the other end to the armhole on the shirt.
-
Step 6
To make the hood, cut out a piece of fabric that is 8 inches by 24 inches. Fold the fabric in half, bringing the two shorter edges together (right sides facing each other).
-
Step 7
Use scissors to round out one of the corners on the folded end. Sew this side of the hood closed, sewing all the way around the rounded edge.
-
Step 8
Sew the bottom of the hood (opposite the fold) to the collar of the shirt, wrapping it all the way around the collar to the front.
-
Step 9
Hem the raw edges of the hood. Turn the shirt hoodie right side out.
