How to Buy Anime Eye Contacts
Whether you are looking to gear up for Halloween, comic book or sci-fi conventions, or just want to try out a new look, obtaining a pair of anime eye-style contact lenses is relatively simple. These contacts make your eyes look bigger and extra-wide, and make you stand out from the crowd. You can order these kinds of contact lenses over the Internet. However, you will still need to visit an eye care professional to get fitted for contact lenses if you have never worn them before.

1
Visit your eye doctor to get fitted for contacts. Even if you have perfect vision, you still need to get fitted by a professional, as each person's eyes are shaped slightly differently.
-
2
Consider the anime character you wish to portray. Research various images of this character, and try to match the style of the eyes to the effects that each type of lens can provide. Some lenses merely change the color of your iris, while others include white "gleam" marks, which will give the illusion of sparkles in your eye. See the Malaysian store in Resources for side-by-side comparisons of each lens and how it looks on the eye.

3
Browse contact lens stores on the Internet, such as Vision Direct and 1-800-Contacts. The leading makers of anime-style contact lenses are Geo, WildEyes and Dueba, and each produces lenses of varying colors and effects (see Resources).

4
Order the lenses from the website of your choice, making sure to input the data given to you from your eye doctor. This will include your prescription, as well as the dimensions of your eyes. If you have any questions, the customer service reps on the website can help you. Your ophthalmologist can also help you order lenses online for the first time.

5
Plan the look for your entire eye area. The contacts will help to make your eyes look bigger, but for the best results you will also need to buy in some full, long false eyelashes, eyelash glue or mascara.

Tips & Warnings
Keep in mind that because this style of contact lens is not in high demand in the United States, you may have to order from overseas, and you will need to cast a larger search net. This means you will need to factor in longer shipping times, so plan accordingly. (See Resources for a way to buy lenses from Malaysia) Compare prices for the lenses you like best using a tool, like Google Shopping, to ensure you get the best price. Keep in mind that by buying large numbers of lenses at once, you may get free or reduced shipping. You may also find contact lenses through cosplay vendors at anime conventions. Contact the convention directly to see if it can help you find a vendor.
Never share contact lenses with another person, as you may transmit bacteria, leading to conjunctivitis.
