How to Create Turbo Spooling Sound

Car turbos can cost thousands of dollars for the equipment and installation--costs that just are not feasible for many car enthusiasts. However, there is a way to at least make your car sound like it has a turbo by installing a Turbo Whistler, which is essentially an aluminum whistle mounted in a vehicle's exhaust pipe. The Turbo Whistler does not increase car performance but it does replicate the sound a turbo makes by creating a hissing turbo spooling noise.

Instructions

  1. Creating a turbo spooling sound in your car

    • 1

Purchase a Turbo Whistler at www.turbowhistler.net for around $20. They also are available at other websites.

    • 2

Assemble the Turbo Whistler by attaching the aluminum arm and the whistle with the screw and tightening it with a Phillips-head screwdriver.

    • 3

Mount the Turbo Whistler in your exhaust pipe. The Turbo Whistler, which is small enough to fit in your hand, should fit in just about any car exhaust.

    • 4

Extend the long jutting arm of the Turbo Whistler outside of the exhaust so the nut rests below the exhaust tip.

    • 5

Tighten the nut as much as you can without damaging the exhaust pipe. If it's not tight enough the engine exhaust could blow the Turbo Whistler out of the pipe.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be sure the Turbo Whistler is installed tightly in the exhaust pipe to prevent pressure from the exhaust from shooting it out while driving. Check the tightness of installation every few days because the exhaust pressure could loosen it.
