How to Make Fake Braces for Halloween

Braces can be an important part of a costume or worn as a joke. Real braces are costly and hard to put on and take off. A fake braces costume can be made quickly, and unlike real braces, it's super-easy to put on and take off. From a distance, fake braces look like real braces, without the pain or expense of visiting an orthodontist.

Cut a piece of craft wire long enough to go around the front of your teeth add an extra inch on each side.

Make eight small square-shaped boxes (approximately 1/4 inch across) with aluminum foil. These will be the brackets for the braces.

Glue brackets to the wire with super glue. Space the brackets according to the nature placement of your teeth. Each of the eight teeth in the front of your mouth should have its own bracket.

Make sure glue on your fake braces costume is completely dry before proceeding.

Sand the ends of the wire or curl ends under to keep them from cutting your gums or inner lip.

Place the braces on the teeth, centering the brackets on each tooth. Wrap the ends of the wire around back teeth to secure braces. Repeat the steps for an additional set of braces to finish your fake braces costume.

Braces can be made with duct tape instead of aluminum foil. Cut a piece of craft wire long enough to go around the front of your teeth, adding an extra inch on each side.

Cut eight strips of duct tape 1/4 inch wide and 1-1/2 inches long.

Wrap duct tape around the wire where the wire will be centered over your teeth. Duct tape should be wrapped until it is approximately 1/4 inch thick. Cut remaining duct tape.

Space duct tape wraps according to how your teeth are placed. Each of the eight teeth in front should have a bracket.

Sand the ends of the wire to prevent cutting or curl ends under.

Place the braces on the teeth, centering the brackets on each tooth. Wrap the ends of the wire around back teeth to secure braces. Repeat the steps to make another set.
