Things You'll Need:
- Arrow shaft with nock installed
- Arrow fletching jig
- Fletching glue
- Arrow vanes
-
Step 1
Insert the nock of an arrow shaft--the piece that secures the arrow to your bowstring during a draw--into the fletching jig's nock receiver. With most fletching jigs, the receiver will twist in specific increments to align the correct parts of the arrow with the feather clamp.
-
Step 2
Place a vane, or feather, into the clamp, and mark the clamp at the front and back of the feather's gluing surface.
-
Step 3
Apply a thin line of glue to the clamped vane's gluing surface. Secure the clamp to the fletching jig, and push it down onto the arrow shaft. Allow the glue to dry completely.
-
Step 4
Release the vane and remove the clamp. Turn the arrow nock receiver one increment to align the shaft for the next fletch.
-
Step 5
Use the same method to attach the remaining two vanes one at a time.
-
Step 6
Remove the arrow from the jig. Place a small drop of glue at the leading edges of all three feathers to provide extra support to the vanes.
