Instructions

  1. Fill a Basket

    • 1

Place your large flat basket in the center of the table. The perfect size would be a two or three foot basket. Place a handful of fall leaves on the bottom of the basket.

    • 2

Trim the corn shucks on the Indian corn. Use sharp scissors to trim them down to about four inches. Cut away any mold on the leaves. This will make your harvest time table decorations look nice. Set the corn aside and toss away the trimmings.

    • 3

Stand up your scarecrow inside the basket. Place the largest pumpkin or gourd in the basket next to the scarecrow. Surround the large pumpkin with some of the smaller gourds.

    • 4

Add the Indian corn to the decorations. Grab the shucks and spread them out some to make them look less uniform. Place two or three Indian corn cobs in the basket arranging them in different ways.

    • 5

Fill up the basket with the rest of your fall leaves. Add some nuts, like walnuts to the basket.

    • 6

Add an apple that has been pierced with several cloves. Tuck in some cinnamon sticks and whole nutmeg spices.

    Make a Bow

    • 7

Unroll your ribbon from the spool. Toss the spool away.

    • 8

Lay the ribbon flat right side up. Fold it into six inch links on top of one another. You should end up with a stack of ribbon looking like an accordion or zigzag .

    • 9

Cut the last link from the end. Tie this piece of ribbon around the center of the ribbons in the stack. Knot it to secure it.

    • 10

Fluff up the sides of the ribbon you tied. Move the ribbon pieces around to make a fluffy bow. Use some floral wire to attach the bow to one of the handles of the wicker basket. Fluff the bow again.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use imitation vegetables. You can use them again every year.
