1
Drink no less than 16 ounces of water before your infrared sauna session, as it is very common to lose up to a half liter of sweat during the average 30-minute sauna session. Gather up your favorite book, magazine or iPod and a towel.
-
2
Enter into the infrared sauna and start out easy if you are not used to sitting in pure heat for extended periods of time. Try starting your sauna session at 10 minutes and increase from there. Infrared sauna heat can be adjusted but the average heat for full weight loss benefits starts at 110 degrees F, which is when fat starts to liquefy.

Drink water while in the infrared sauna so you do not become dehydrated, and refrain from any exercise or activity while inside. As your body heats up and your metabolism rises you will begin to sweat, which burns calories. Your 30-minute sauna session can easily be the equivalent to 30 minutes of marathon running in calorie deficit.

4
Exit the sauna after your time is completed. You could lose up to five pounds in one sauna session, although it is water weight. Over time, because of the calories you burn, weight will come off and you will lose noticeable inches.
