How to Make an Aromatic Foot Bath for Headaches
An excellent remedy for headaches is a cold footbath with essential oils. Soaking your feet in cold water draws blood away from the head, which brings almost immediate relief for headaches. This footbath helps to not only relieve headaches, but revives and revitalizes tired, achy feet.Try soaking your feet in an aroma infused, cooling footbath the next time you have a splitting headache, it just might help.
Things You'll Need
- 2 tbsps. of Castile lotion
- 4 drops of lavender essential oil
- 2 drops of peppermint essential oil
- A small basin or tub (large enough to fit both feet)
- Cold water
- Towel

Fill a tub or basin half full with cold water.

Add the essential oils of peppermint and lavender to the Castile lotion soap.

Add the essential oil and Castile mixture to the water and stir well with your hands.

Soak both feet in the aromatic water for between 15 and 20 minutes. Sit comfortably while doing the footbath. Concentrate on breathing slowly and deeply. Relax.

After the footbath, remove feet and dry gently with a soft towel.

Massage the feet with some lavender infused lotion or cream. Repeat the process as often as you like until your headache is gone.

Tips & Warnings
You may substitute other oils such as sweet almond oil or sunflower oil, but Castile lotion soap will give the best result. Other headache remedies include meditation, visualization, and breathing exercises. Any or all of these can be incorporated into your foot bath routine for excellent results. Soft music and gentle lighting during the foot bath can also assist with relieving headaches.
