It's possible to use eco-friendly products such as baking soda and vinegar to clean cabinet and drawer knobs. Baking soda and vinegar clean metal, wooden or plastic knobs without harming the surfaces. Using eco-friendly products instead of commercial cleaners reduces the amount of chemicals in the sewers and reduces harmful vapors and smells that enter the air while cleaning. The odor of the vinegar does not harm humans and disappears within 20 minutes. Baking soda and vinegar also cost less than commercial cleaners. A box of baking soda and container of vinegar cost less than 75 cents each.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Water
  • Large bowl
  • Small bowl
  • Spoon
  • Old toothbrush or rag
  1. Step 1

Remove the knobs from the cabinets and drawers. Set the screws aside.

  2. Step 2

Pour 1 cup of baking soda, 1 cup of water and 1 cup of vinegar into a large bowl. Pour the vinegar slowly. The baking soda and vinegar react when combined and foam. After the foaming stops, stir together. The baking soda works as a stain remover and scrubbing agent. The acid in the vinegar kills bacteria, according to Natural-healthy-home-cleaning-tips.com.

  3. Step 3

Put the knobs into the bowl. Allow them to soak for about 20 minutes.

  4. Step 4

Pour 1 cup of vinegar into the small bowl. Put the screws inside. Allow them to sit for 20 minutes.

  5. Step 5

Use the toothbrush to scrub any dirt off the knobs. Lay the knobs on a towel to dry.

  6. Step 6

Scrub the screws with a toothbrush. Vinegar also removes rust. Set the screws on a towel to dry.

  7. Step 7

Use the toothbrush or rag to wipe out and around the knob hole in the cabinet or drawer door. Use the leftover knob cleaner.

  8. Step 8

Put the knobs back on after dry. Dump out cleaners.
