Things You'll Need:
- Socket set
- Screwdrivers
- Floor jack
- Jack stands
- Lug wrench
-
Step 1
Raise the car with the floor jack by placing the jack behind the front wheel (at the brake to be repaired), then pumping the lever until the wheel is in the air.
-
Step 2
Remove the wheel by turning the lug nuts with the lug wrench in a counterclockwise direction. Set the wheel away from the car.
-
Step 3
Remove the caliper by turning the rear mount bolts in a counterclockwise direction, then sliding the caliper and pads off of the rotor.
-
Step 4
Replace the pads by pulling them free of the caliper pistons (some debris or rust can cause them to stick), then pressing new units into position.
-
Step 5
Replace the caliper by sliding it back over the rotor, then turning the caliper mount bolts clockwise until snug.
-
Step 6
Replace the wheel by turning the lug nuts clockwise, in an alternating pattern.
-
Step 7
Lower the Accent from the floor jack by turning the jack's pressure bolt counterclockwise, slowly.
-
Step 8
Repeat the entire process for the opposite side's front brake assembly.
