Try to follow some of these steps to help you to avoid having a stroke.

  1. Step 1

    Reduce stress as much as possible. Try to relax. You can use techniques such as yoga and meditation to help.

  2. Step 2

    If you have diabetes, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol make sure to keep them in check as much as possible.

  3. Step 3

    Try to be physically active for at least 30 minutes a day for 4 to 5 days a week.

  4. Step 4

    If you are obese or slightly overweight try to take off a couple of pounds. Ask your doctor which diet would be best for you.

  5. Step 5

    Cut back on carbohydrates.

  6. Step 6

    Eat a diet low in saturated fats and low in cholesterol.

  7. Step 7

    Instead of using butter try canola oil or olive oil.

  8. Step 8

    Try to get more of an intake of omega-3 fatty acids. Try this in a supplement.

  9. Step 9

    Cut down on all alcoholic drinks.

  10. Step 10

    Most importantly take care of yourself and take regular doctor visits to keep your body and health in good shape.
