Making light bulb ornaments has been a hobby of mine for the last few years. I started out with a simple snowman ornament and over the years have come up with ideas to make a variety of ornaments. One of my favorite ornaments is a penguin ornament. It is a simple ornament to make and is one of the cutest ornaments imaginable.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • alcohol (rubbing not drinking)
  • light bulb (used)
  • 2 soft rags
  • black and white acrylic paint
  1. Step 1

Using a soft rag dampened with alcohol wipe off the light bulb to remove all dust from the surface. This helps the paint to stick to the glass better.

  2. Step 2

Using the wide bristled brush paint the entire glass part of the light bulb white. And then allow to dry.

  3. Step 3

Once the paint has dried wipe with clean soft cloth to remove brush strokes and paint a second coat of white on and allow to dry.

  4. Step 4

Wipe again with clean soft cloth and paint the black part of the penguin making sure to leave his belly white.

  5. Step 5

Allow to dry, wipe with cloth again and add the white for his eyes and paint the wing outline in white as well. Allow these to dry and paint in the eyes.

  6. Step 6

While the eyes are drying, cut one triangle for the penguins beak and draw and cut out the penguins feet from the orange craft foam. Glue onto penguin in the appropriate places.

  7. Step 7

Form hat and slip over the metal part of the bulb and glue it on. Glue on bowtie and you are done!
