How to Repair a Rotten Area On a Windowsill

Make sure to repair the rotten area as soon as you notice it. If no the rotten area will continue to spread.

First take a chisel and dig out the whole part of the rotten area.

If the under spot where you dug out the rotten part feels moist or damp, let the area dry before doing anything more to it. To dry the area faster use a blow dryer on high heat for 3 to 5 minutes until completely dry.

Follow the directions on the can and mix up a batch of body filler. Mix up only what is needed and use it quickly as it hardens fast.

Using a putty knife fill up the hole with the body filler.

Remove any excess before it has a chance to harden.

Let dry for 30 minutes and then apply another batch if needed.

Allow the second application 30 minutes to fully dry.

Sand the area until even and completely smooth.

Prime and allow plenty of time to dry.

Paint as desired.
