How to make Beef Stew w/ Guinness Beer

Make an easy delicious stew for those cold winter days. It is fairly simple to make in less than 1 1/2 hrs.

Are you the type that can't boil water without burning? Well follow this recipe and instructions and you should have no problems.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 5 Lb. Cubed Beef
  • 1 ½ cups Flour
  • 24 oz. Guinness Beer
  • 1 ½ Onions diced
  • 1 bunch Celery diced
  • 5 Carrots diced
  • 2 quarts water
  • 1/3 Lb. Beef Base
  • 1 T Dry Thyme
  • 5 Bay leaves
  • 2 ½ lb. Diced Potatoes
  • Large Pan
  1. Step 1

    Mise en Place:to get in order.( cut, measure or par cook)

    Cut and dice ingredients needed.
    set them aside.
    Read recipe and instructions so you are
    familiar with what is going on while you
    are cooking.

  2. Step 2

    Heat a pan med-high till hot.

    Coat beef cubes in flour.

    Add cubes and sear, Sear till
    the meat is browned.

  3. Step 3

    Once browned add your beer,water,
    vegetables, base and herbs.
    Cook over med-low heat for 1 hr.
    Till the meat starts softening.

    Stir occasionally or it will stick and burn.

  4. Step 4

    Add your potatoes
    And cook for another 25-30 min.

    It should be getting pretty thick.

    So keep stirring till you turn
    off the heat.

  5. Step 5

    Make some mashed potatoes and enjoy.

    This could also be served over rice if you want to.

Tips & Warnings
  • Note. Do not let it stick, If it sticks it will burn. Reduce heat and continue to stir.
