Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 cup of flowers (any kind you like; roses, violets, dandelions, poppies, buttercups, etc.)
  • 1 cup of torn up toilet paper, tightly packed
  • water
  • electric blender
  • colander
  • vegetable oil
  • screen cut into a 14-inch square (you can find it at most hardware stores)
  • rolling pin
  • newspaper
  • wax paper

Go out on a search for flowers. You might want to consult a field guide or the internet to see which wildflowers are in bloom in your area. Collect about a cup full of them. If your flowers are large, you will want to pull off only the petals and discard the middles. For smaller flowers (like violets), just leave the flowers whole. Remember, the colors of the flowers you choose will determine the color of your paper!Make sure the flowers you use complement each other.

  2. Step 2
    blending the paper slurry

Place the flowers and the shredded toilet paper in a blender. Fill the blender 2/3 of the way full with water. Turn it on and blend until you make a slimy pulp or slurry.

  3. Step 3
    using the rolling pin

Drain the slurry in the colander. Get rid of as much water as you can while keeping the paste malleable. Oil the screen before putting the paper paste on it. This helps the paper come off easier after it dries. Place the paper paste on the screen over the newspaper. Spread it over the screen evenly with your finger. Cover the paste with wax paper. Use the rolling pin to roll the paste flat without making holes in it.

  4. Step 4

Remove the wax paper and take off the screen. Let your paper dry for a or so. Now you can write on it!

Tips & Warnings
  • If you want to take it a step further, try gluing dried flowers or leaves to the paper using a paint brush and glue diluted with water.
