Things You'll Need:
- 1 pound flank or round steak
- 2 russet potatoes
- 1 jar brown gravy
- butter
- milk
- Texas toast
- 1 bottle beer
-
Step 1
Before leaving for work in the morning, or the night before you plan on serving, marinade the beef in a bottle of beer, a few tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce, and a sprinkle of garlic powder. Especially with cheap cuts of meat like round steak, the beer does wonders to tenderize and add flavor.
-
Step 2
Cut the meat into thin strips and sauté in a little olive oil and garlic for about 5 minutes, or until done. Add the jar of gravy to the pan and simmer together over very low heat.
-
Step 3
Prepare mashed potatoes by chopping potatoes into small chunks, and boiling in just enough water to cover them until tender. Drain, and add a splash of milk and 2 tablespoons of butter. Add a little parsley and garlic for extra flavor.
-
Step 4
To serve, top a slice of Texas toast, or any thick white bread with meat and gravy and serve mashed potatoes on the side with additional gravy if desired.
