Your heart rate may increase during exercise or if you are stressed. If you are known to have high blood pressure this also may increase your heart rate. Learn how to take control and slow your heart rate down. It will be healthier for you and make you feel better.

Learn how to relax. Often times if you begin to tell yourself that you are not OK you may spook yourself which will cause your heart rate to increase. Tell yourself that you will be OK and that you just need to relax. Think of something soothing to you or listen to calming music.

Lie down and wait for your heart rate to decrease. By doing this you will be forced to relax and wait until it passes.

Lower your cholesterol. Eat foods such as oatmeal, walnuts, fish and omega-3 fatty acids.

Live a stress free life. Often times, people have high heart rates because they are stressed out. Find ways to live a stress free life. Do not overwork yourself and take breaks often.
