Romantic comedies take situations that would otherwise be sad or boring and make them absurd and funny. But how do you choose a good one?

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Movie DVDs
  • DVD Players
  • VCRs
  • Movie Tickets
  • Movie Videos
  1. Step 1

Visit movie and entertainment Web sites to see what is available. Romantic comedies typically have their own area or will be found as a subcategory of comedy.

  2. Step 2

Read movie reviews - and look for reviewers whose opinions you agree with. Keep an eye out for other suggestions and positive comments from those reviewers.

  3. Step 3

Ask friends and family for recommendations.

  4. Step 4

Keep a list of movies to see and take it with you to the video store.

  5. Step 5

Find someone who enjoys the same movies you do and treasure that person. It could be a clerk at the video store, an usher at your local theater or a friend who likes to see all the new releases. This person can steer you away from the so-so flicks.

  6. Step 6

Check out movies such as "When Harry Met Sally," "The Taming of the Shrew," "There's Something About Mary," "My Best Friend's Wedding," "Sense and Sensibility" and "Chasing Amy."

Tips & Warnings
  • If you're seeing a romantic comedy on a date, try to find one that balances the romance with other elements. "Jerry Maguire" is a good example ' there's sports for him and romance for her.

on 11/22/2005 OK, whenever my friends come over, we always watch "Never Been Kissed." It is so funny! [Editor's note: This is the acclaimed 1999 romantic comedy starring Drew Barrymore and David Arquete.]
