BLT sandwichs are great, but usually high in fat content. Using a few simple substititions, yu can make a low fat, great tasting BLT sandwich!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • whole wheat bread, 99% lean bacon (microwave or pan cook),tomato, lettuce,lo -fat mayo,toaster,lo-fat mustard(optional)
  1. Step 1

First, you want to microwave, or pan fry the bacon. Even with lo fat bacon, you'll need to put the cooked bacon strips on paper towels on a plate, and drain the grease from the pan, depending on how many sandwiches you'll want to cook. Try to find the leanest bacon that you can buy. Also, turkey bacon works well because it's healthy and leaner than most bacon cuts.

  2. Step 2

Next, toast all the whole wheat bread slices needed for as many sandwiches as you'll want to make. Fresh bakery bread can work well here, but any bread without alot of preservatives and is low on the carb content will do. Next, wash and slice up tomatoes into thin slices, as well as washing and cutting the lettuce into sandwich size pieces.

  3. Step 3

Finally, assemble the sandwich, or sandwiches! Spread lo-fat mayo and/or mustard on your toasted bread slices. First layer on the bread will the bacon, next is the tomato, finally the lettuce. Slice diagonally for sandwich pieces.

Tips & Warnings
  • Thinly sliced cucumbers or carrots make a nice change from the traditional BLT, or might try those as subs!
