Go to http://www.missingmoney.com and enter your name in the "free governmental search" box. Click "GO" to begin your search.

On the next page, you can narrow down the search by state or city. Don't limit yourself to your current location; you'll want to search any location in which you've previously lived as well.

Check the list for your name and any current or previous addresses. If you find a hit, click the name and verify your eligibility on the following page by clicking "Yes I can Claim". This just states you are the person to whom money is owed and at some point has lived at the listed address. You will then be directed to the formal claim form which needs to be filled out and submitted.
