How to Raise Money at a High School Fair
High school fairs are great events to raise money for upcoming class trips, senior class gifts and class funds. They enable clubs to raise money for their activities, as well as earn money for worthy community outreach. High school fairs create memories, while money is being made. With a little creativity and organization, you, and the cause you want to raise money for, will be able to gain the funds you need.

1
Organize a meeting to discuss ideas and options for the booth that will represent your class or club. Ask that your class sponsor be at that meeting. Decide what your group will have as their booth activity. You might consider running a hotdog stand, face painting for children, holding a raffle, or even pony rides as your fundraiser. As a group, come up with as many ideas as you can. Record these ideas, then work with your class sponsor to see which suggestions are plausible.

2
If your school requires principal approval for fair ideas, make an appointment to see the principal. Call another quick meeting so that the members of your class or club can narrow the ideas down to three options, then vote on which to use at the fair. At this meeting, ask for volunteers. Get the phone numbers and email addresses of these individuals. Keep this information in a place that is easily accessible to both yourself and your class sponsor.

Form committees from the list of volunteers. Make up one committee that will keep record of how much money is spent in preparation, and one that is in charge of purchases for the school fundraiser. Create a committee that will design the booth. Set up a schedule, have deadlines and check often to make sure that tasks are being completed. Remember that the more organized you are, the more money you are likely to make.

4
Involve parents. Send a letter home, and ask parents to volunteer time and expertise. Request volunteers who will serve as supervisors during the high school fair. Ask if parents would be willing to help provide transportation for students who do not have cars. Make sure that you acquire the proper permission slips for parents who drive students around. Parents are often willing to help their child's projects be successful.
-
5
Create flyers about your booth, and distribute them throughout town. Make posters to put by the school lockers. Ask friends, neighbors and family to come and support your booth. Announce the high school fair on your Facebook, MySpace or other social-networking sites.
-
6
Require that volunteers and parents who are supervising arrive at the event location two hours before starting time. This will give you enough time to set up and organize. It will also give you time to get any last-minute items that may have been overlooked before the fair begins.
-
7
Have a lockbox in which to keep the money. Start with seed money in the box to serve as change. Count the money (with at least one other person present) as soon as the fair is over, and give it to your class sponsor.
-
8
No matter how stressed out you are about this event, smile. People are more likely to approach booths with friendly, smiling people. If you have more people at your booth, you will make more money.
-
9
Write thank-you notes to anyone who helped with the fair. Without these volunteers, the fair would not be a success.
