How to Play The Sims Online

The Sims Online is a version of the best-selling life simulation game that allows players to connect with others via an online universe. Users are able to create customized characters, dress them, move into a house, build skills, earn money and interact with other characters. Unlike the offline versions of the game, there is a strong focus on the importance of skills and working together as a group in order to progress through the game. In other words, Sims with more skills will earn more money, and good teamwork with other players will produce better results on the job.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert The Sims Online game disc and follow the onscreen instructions for installation. Download any patches or updates the game recommends to ensure smoother game play. Open and run the program once the installation process is complete.

Create your Sim on the opening page. First, decide which city you want your Sim to live in. Each city has its own characteristics with its own established population, so choose the location accordingly. Next, use the game panels to customize your Sim's appearance. You can modify the facial features, skin color, hair color, hair style and clothing. Once the Sim has been customized, fill in your Sim's personal profile for people to read. On the following screen, enter the city to begin your Sims Online experience.

Choose a house to visit in the overview of the city. Try to select one that has a moderate number of people (around ten) since too many might be confusing and too few might be too boring. Begin socializing with other players at the house while monitoring your Sim's vital statistics. Be sure that the Hunger, Comfort, Hygiene, Bladder, Energy, Fun, Social and Room gauges are green the majority of the time, or your Sim will become unhappy and unresponsive to your commands. Food, a comfortable chair, a quick shower, a visit to the toilet, a power nap, a television, talking to other Sims and being in a pleasantly decorated atmosphere will often satisfy these gauges respectively.

Build your skills initially by utilizing skill-related objects at other Sims' houses. These may include reading a book for logic points, making dinner for cooking points or painting for creativity points. With more skills, you can find a job by reading a newspaper in the front lawn or using a computer. A job will allow you to eventually purchase or build your own house.

    • 5

Decide whether you would like to move into another Sim's house as a roommate or build your own house. Building a property is often time consuming but is one of the most rewarding aspects of the game. Use and experiment with the build and buy modes to customize a house you want once you have enough money saved.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make notes and study what other players are doing with their homes to help you when you can afford to build your own house. Try to listen to advice from other players who may offer useful tips that will make game play easier in the long run.

  • EA has stopped further development and updates with The Sims Online system, thus owning and attempting to play this game is at your own risk.
