Step 1
Remove all of your items out of your medicine cabinet. Some medicine cabinet shelves are adjustable and they just rest on pegs. Lift up on a shelf and slide it out. Complete this step for any remaining shelves. Removing your shelves will allow easier access to the screws holding your cabinet in place.

Step 2
Use your drill and Phillips head drill bit to loosen and remove the screws from the sides of the medicine cabinet. There are usually at least four screws: two at the top, and two at the bottom. It is possible you may need a flat tip drill bit. It all depends on the preference of the individual who installed your medicine cabinet, and if there were screws or toggle bolts supplied with the cabinet.

Step 3
Slide your cabinet out of the wall. At this point you have completed half of the job. Use your tape measure to find the height and the width of the hole in your wall. This is the measurement that you need for a new cabinet to be able to fit into the same hole. Take the measurements with you when you purchase your new cabinet.

Step 4
Slide your new cabinet into the same location where you removed the old one, and secure it into place before installing your shelves. Some cabinets will have pre-drilled holes in both sides of the cabinet. Place a screw up to each hole and drive it into the stud with your drill. Use a drill bit a little smaller than the size of your screws if you need to drill pilot holes. Some cabinets do not have pre-drilled holes. Install your shelves, and you are finished.
