Comcast is an Internet Service Provider specializing in bringing high-speed Internet connections to its customers. This service comes with a monthly fee. The exact amount of money paid to Comcast monthly depends upon the individual service plan. Information on all plans is available at comcast.com. Installing Comcast High Speed Internet service is not something you can do yourself--you have to make an appointment for a licensed technician to come out to your home and perform the installation for you.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Go to comcast.com or call 1-800-COMCAST to set up your Comcast High Speed Internet service. Plans are available for as little as $19.99 a month. Be sure to ask for any specials or promotions for which you may qualify. Also note that oftentimes you can receive a discount if you sign up for Comcast cable television service at the same time. Once you've started your service, the customer service representative will schedule an appointment for a technician to come out to your house and setup your service.

  2. Step 2

You will be given an exact date and time frame for your setup appointment while on the phone with the Comcast representative. It could be as soon as a day or two or could be up to five business days.

  3. Step 3

Have your computer set up and ready to go before the technician arrives. Know where the Internet connection wall outlets in your home or apartment are, or know that the technician will have to install some himself. All these things will make the installation process go faster on the day of your appointment.

  4. Step 4

Be home all day on the day of your appointment. More often than not, you won't be given a specific time that your technician will arrive; you'll be given a time frame of two to eight hours. If you aren't home at the time the technician arrives, they will leave and move onto the next appointment. After that it could be another few days before someone can be scheduled to come back out to your home.
