How to Choose Wedding Linens
-
1
Consider the location of your wedding reception, so that your linens don't clash with or seem out of place with the existing decor. Keep the room's dimensions, wall and ceiling color in mind, along with any wall art or features that will be present during your reception.
-
2
Obtain the table measurements and chair types from the vendor supplying your tables. Ask your reception-site contact if the linens are included with the rental.

3
Determine your wedding theme, colors, formality and any plans you may already have for centerpieces or table decorations. Use these to choose the color of linens you want on your tables. Decide if you will have plain cloths or linens that implement a design such as brocade.

4
Pick the fabric for your linens, again keeping in mind the formality and theme of your wedding.

Tips & Warnings
Check with your location to determine if any linens are included or can be rented from them. Typically, basic white linens are the least expensive, however they can easily be dressed up with colorful napkins, bows, centerpieces, runners or other detailed accents. Making your own linens or purchasing used linens may save money if you are considering buying them or if your wedding is a small, more intimate gathering. Alternating the colors of your table linens between the tables or choosing various shades of the same color are options to consider if you'd like to incorporate dramatic visual affect.
Renting table linens is usually cost effective, particularly for larger weddings with multiple tables. You most likely don't want to be stuck with 20 tablecloths in the same color and size that probably doesn't fit your own dining table. Try to dress up white tablecloths with other colorful accents; too much white may impact photographs. Ivory or cream may be better substitutes if they complement the rest of your wedding decor.
