Uploading sound clips or music files to the Web is relatively simple. All you need is an online storage area to keep your files. After uploading your sound, you can use the URL to embed the sound onto your personal website or send it as an email link to your friends and family--as long as you are not violating copyright or piracy laws.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Locate the sound file on your computer to determine what type of file extension it has (.mp3, .midi or .wav, for example). To determine the file extension, right-click on the sound file and left-click on "Properties."

  2. Step 2

Create a space online to store your sound clip. The online space needs to be able to support the type of file extension that was determined in Step 1.
Many, though not all, website-hosting providers will give you space to store all types of sound files inside of your "File Directory."
If you need to create a space, visit an website such as File Den, Mailbox Drive or Z Share (see Resources).

  3. Step 3

Log in to your new account or the control panel of your Web-hosting account.

  4. Step 4

Locate your File Directory and click on "Upload a new file."

  5. Step 5

Select the location for the sound clip. The clip will automatically upload to the Web. After the sound clip has uploaded, you will be able to see the URL for the sound clip.
