Microsoft PowerPoint is a powerful presentation program that is part of the Microsoft Office Suite. PowerPoint is the industry standard presentation application used by business professional, trainers, students and educators. Creating a dynamic presentation is often the key to a successful and engaging slideshow that maintains the interest of an audience. With Macromedia Flash Animation, users can embed and play animations and movies within their slideshow.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Download and install Macromedia (Adobe) Flash Player (see Resources).

  2. Step 2

Open PowerPoint and display the slide that you want to play the animation. Click the "View" menu, select "Toolbars" and then click "Control Toolbox." Click "More Controls" (hammer and wrench icon) under "Control Toolbox." Scroll down the list and click on "Shockwave Flash Object" and drag on the slide to draw the flash object control. To adjust the control box to the size of your animation, drag the sizing handles.

  3. Step 3

Right-click on the "Shockwave Flash Object" and select "Properties." Select the "Alphabetic" tab and click on the "Movie" property. Type the full drive path, including file name, or URL of your flash animation in the value column (blank box next to "Movie"). If your flash animation is located in your documents folder, a sample drive path may look like "c\:My Documents\flashfile.swf."

  4. Step 4

Set additional options in the "Properties" dialog box. In the "Playing" property, set the value to "True" to automatically play the animation when the slide is displayed. In the "Loop" property, set the value to "False" if you don't want the animation to play repeatedly. In the "EmbedMovie" property, set the value to "True" to embed the flash file into the presentation so that it can be played on other computers as well.

  5. Step 5

Play the animation. Click the "Slide Show" button located in the lower left-hand corner of the PowerPoint window.
